CUDV Dobrna, as the lead organisation, recieved the approval for CLENA project: Raising climate change and sustainable environmental awareness for children with special education needs. The project was submitted under the Key Action of Strategic Partnerships in the field of school education, enabling organizations in education, training, youth, and sports to internationally collaborate on developing and implementing inovative projects. The participating partners are organizations from Turkey – School 15. Kolordu Ilkokulu and Serbia – School Center with Student Dormitory Dositej Obradović. All three organizations work in the field of education and training for persons with special needs. CLENA project is aiming to involve children with special needs in learning about climate change and sustainable environment. The partnership brings diverse experiences as we operate from different climate and geographical regions. The project runs from April 1st 2024 to September 30th 2025. During the project, we will organise various activities, including workshops where users of CUDV Dobrna, together with employees from local and partner organizations, will acquire knowledge about biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. We will promote inclusivity and sensory integration through group work in creating and conducting workshops, even remotely, with students from different schools, locally and internationally. We also pay special attention to pedagogical innovation in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths) method, aiming to exchange practices among our three countries. Our target group includes children in need of special education and the teachers who educate them. Teachers will receive special training on climate change and sustainable development, which they will then pass on through practical activities to students in their regions, and we will share the results of these activities with partner schools and anyone interested in the topic. We will continuously updated our blog with all ongoing activities, enriching our experiences and journey towards the goal of raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development in the field of special education and sharing the project findings with the broader international community. The project will contribute to improving the competencies of teaching staff, developing digital skills, and fostering intercultural understanding. Through the exchange of ideas and practices, we will gain new skills and knowledge that we can implement in our daily work even after the project ends. The CLENA project is a step towards a more sustainable future and the well-being of our children. With it, we aim to contribute to raising awareness about climate change and leaving a greener and healthier planet for future generations.
